Watch the birdy!


That beak is about 5cm long and he stands (I assumed it was a ‘he’) about 60cm tall. He was very cooperative even though I was very close. Well actually far too close as it happens. My last shot was the one below..


It is unwise to forget that a bird with a 5cm beak can get really really close very fast if he chooses to, especially if your lens is actually touching the cage. Thankfully my skylight filter is quite strong and I now also know its shatter-proof as well. As the beep of the autofocus sounded he moved, when the mirror came back down all I could see was a blur of beak and feather and the camera jumped back hard against my face. I honestly thought he had cracked the lens. That will teach me to be a bit more respectful in future.

Having spent about 20mins with him I forgot to get his name!

Stepping Stones

Got a new lens so had to go photograph something to see if it worked. I’m such a kid sometimes.
[It does work tho but its going to take some getting used to]
