The Otley Show is in its 203rd Year, and is always well attended. Aside from the usual cattle and horses the other attractions include chickens, rabbits, ferrets, pygmy goats and the WI. Chicken?
Red Kite
These are a common sight around here now, thanks to the local stately home running a re-introduction program for the last few years. They are big birds, especially when they come down low so you can see them properly.
Otley Show 2011
Cattle? Why do we call them cattle and not cows. I suppose ‘cows’ are a bit sissy for such fine beasts. Otley Show went well this year. It didn’t rain, which is unusual because it always seems to, and it was well attended.
Goose
Goose. We were just walking along the path beside the water when a furious commotion erupted from the grass. This one and about another dozen all gave us the eye and scolded loudly until we were well past.
Sheep
Otley Show, 2010. Its a Dales show, one of the oldest, and there are lots of serious farmers – who look like ‘Dales Farmers’ – and an even larger number of Sheep. These are prizewinners though and don’t they know it. They are a lot bigger than you think when you get up close.
Dennis, Cat
