The Otley Show is in its 203rd Year, and is always well attended. Aside from the usual cattle and horses the other attractions include chickens, rabbits, ferrets, pygmy goats and the WI. Another from Harewood House. They have several Owls, but the larger ones are always at the back of their cages, except when someone feeds them. That and the fine mesh wire makes a good picture very hard. This little fellow (he’s only about 8 inches tall) was on a perch about 8′ from the wire. [...]
Harewood House is our local stately home. They have an extensive bird garden, with some quite rare and endangered species. Its a good visit, has a fine cafe and the birds are always entertaining. Geese are…very birdy. Canada geese even more so, so whilst sitting on a bench trying to photograph ducks in flight (its not easy I discover) I became aware of several geese trying to get into my pack/pocket/trousers in hope of finding food whilst my attention was elsewhere.
These are a common sight around here now, thanks to the local stately home running a re-introduction program for the last few years. They are big birds, especially when they come down low so you can see them properly.
