Privacy, Cookies and you. How they are used on this site

This site uses cookies as you probably noticed from the pop-up when you came here – these are small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, store information for things like shopping carts, and provide anonymised tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics. Generally speaking, cookies will make your browsing experience better.

As a matter of principal I use as few cookies as possible on this site, and those that there are are just for the smooth functioning of the site, or to record the fact that you don’t want any cookies while you visit.  ( a cookie to say you don’t want a cookie??)

I do not collect any other details about you, and therefore I do not process any data about you as an individual visitor. I do collect generalised data about how many people visit this site, when they visit and what they click on. This helps me remove stuff that is unpopular or broken.

However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. The most effective way to do this is to disable cookies in the popup (first paragraph in the Cookie Policy Menu option) or more generally in your browser. I suggest consulting the Help section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.

If you are using the Firefox browser then I can personally recommend the NoScript and AdBlock plus extensions, which between them remove most of the annoying content (ads, popups etc) from websites.
